Hello, it’s nice to meet you.
I wish to help people overcome any challenge, big or small. If life has taught me ONE thing so far, it is to pursue what brings me happiness, despite the ups and downs. I hope to create a safe space to engage, nurture, and share the light of happiness with you.
Life is a journey of learning what aligns with your true self.
I attended Bonita Canyon Elementary School, Rancho San Joaquin Middle School, and University High School. At San Francisco State University, I earned Dean’s List status while exploring the city’s rich diversity, but transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles for Anthropology. I intended to pursue a Master’s in English and start teaching abroad, but life had other plans for me...
I believe that having the courage to share personal experiences gives us the ability to work through challenges and heal the parts of ourselves that cannot remain in the dark. My beautiful mother, Heidi, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2011. Although I wanted to pursue my goals in higher education and teaching, I chose to step away from academia to support my family. I hoped that, in time, I would resume the path I had envisioned for my future. Devastatingly, my mother passed away a year later and we had to learn how to navigate life without her. I helped my father with his business and looked after my sisters with the support of my elder siblings and friends. I was completely shattered and I felt my life spin out of control. At 24 years old, I no longer felt the path I had envisioned was the right one to pursue.
While slowly starting to improve my physical and mental health, I also carved out a little time in my week for tutoring children. Helping others allowed me to heal, too. Students struggled with stress, anxiety, dyslexia, ADD, and medical setbacks, but I sat right next to them, encouraging them to remain positive and tap into their strength and confidence. Seeing people improve - slowly and surely - became a great joy.
I was warmly welcomed into people’s homes and assisted those who struggled with homework, difficult assignments, and test preparation. I felt called to help people navigate whatever challenges they faced. Some of their ambitions are educational and some are personal. I believe that academic success is dependent upon, and fueled by, personal accountability and lifestyle habits. This ethos - practicing a holistic lifestyle - underlies my practice.
My students’ journeys have taken them to new cities, new schools, internships, colleges and careers. I love to keep in touch or meet for coffee, so they can share their incredible achievements and life updates. I am grateful to be able to share their joy. Although I feel bittersweet emotions when a student moves on to seek opportunities, there is a call to let in and work with new energy. I am forever grateful for the constant flow of collaboration and possibilities that lie ahead. My true joy in life is helping people achieve their goals and discover their light within.
Thank you for joining me here.
